    Hi guys,

Looking for a good 10speed chain, also need it to be long enough to work with

53tooth chainring and 28tooth sized cassestte, but not too so that it will still work ok if I happen to end up on 39tooth chainring and 12tooth cassette.

I've read some people are not big fans of Shimano chains. SRAM and Campy chains do seem to be recommended a lot though.

    What do you guys think?

Wippermann Connex are handy if you want to take the chain on and off without tools.

KMC X10SL or X10L. Excellent chain.

    KMC or SRAM.

When my last Ultegra chain broke, I switched to KMC and haven't looked back. They're pricey but worth it IMHO.
They also have a "magic link" that allows you to easily take off the chain with your fingers (no tools required).

    Not on 10sp they don't.

I use Wipperman connex now as they last longer than SRAM without stretching in my recent experience. Ribble sell them.

    Tis.

I am not sure if you can open them with your hand though. I think the 10sp ones are usable as well.

    Wrong.

I should learn to read properly; I thought this was a rerun of the Powerlink/Powerlock debate.

Is there a particular lenght of chain I should be looking for?

There is one length and you remove the links you need to fit your setup.

See the formula here. The chain you buy should be long enough anyway and you may need to remove one or two links.

Any recommended method for removing the links besides a hammer and punch?

Should I go ahead an get a chainbreaker tool for the job?
