    Hi all,

I'm new to the learning to drive forum so I hope I've put this in the right place. I've applied for my test on a cancellation basis as I need my full licence asap for work related reasons.

I'll be using my own car for the test, a Toyota Yaris Luna 00 with an electronic display exactly like this

    100_1000.jpg

The display is almost like tunnel vision, and it cannot be seen from the passenger side. For the test i'm assuming the instructor will need to see the speed i'm going at as part of the assessment so I was wondering is there some sort of special mirror I could get for the dash so that the display can be seen from the passenger side?

Would I be failed on this before I even leave the test centre?

    Thanks in advance.

No, there is no need for any special mirrors. The tester won't need to be able to have a full view your speedometer. He will be able to tell what speed you are doing without even looking at your dashboard. He/she spends their entire working day in a car. He knows what 50 mph "feels" like, he knows what 60 mph "feels" like etc etc. He won't need to look at your speedometer to know if you are going too fast, or that you are keeping within the posted speed limits. As long as everything is working ok on your dashboard, and the tester is happy that you know what all the bells and whistles do, and how they should be used, you'll be fine.

Sorry for cutting into this thread but, is examiner gonna look how you press clutch and accelerator? or will they feel it by the way car moves?

Broken Strings: I have used Yaris's for a few years now. Several of them had that sort of dash. It is not a problem.
If they feel you are driving too fast for a road and can't see your speedo, they can mark you for speed in relation to the road conditions.
Arleitiss: They will hear what you are doing with your feet. They will feel it. They will see it. If you are really bad they will smell it too. As ProudDUB said, like driving instructors, the examiners are in cars all day. We know when someone is making a mistake. It's part of the job.
PS. I'm not messing, hear, feel, see and smell.

The tester just check it even if its digital. He just make sure you are in the correct speed. They will have an idea if you are going too slow or too fast based on the movement/clutch/acceleration.
