Primary school rugby / tag rugby in Ireland

Its something that occurred to me in the IRFU thread, but I felt it merited a thread of its own.

In Leinster I only know of prep schools like Willow and Andrews that offer rugby at a primary school level, my national school certainly didn't offer it and when I wanted to play in 5th class I had to join a club. But I was barely in the club for a year or two and it started to become a clash of interest with school (possibly because my club wanted me as a lock and school wanted me at 10...)

Is there a league for primary schools? How about tag?

There is not a league at primary school level. there is no competitive leagues/cups in minis rugby and hasnt been in about 10 years.
The CDOs(coaching development officers) go to primary schools with the aim of developing the game/getting kids to join clubs through playing tag.

So is there an external body that schedules friendlies in mini rugby? Why do you think we're reluctant to start rugby young?

The various branch youths committees have mini rugby reps and there is mini rugby committees who design a schedule for blitzs for the season.
In munster there is a couple of pan munster blitzs held for kids to play in as well as the annual national mini rugby blitz which is held in ashbourne rfc every year.
the teams that play in the national blitz are decided on a rota basis between clubs in the respective regions
