He is to run in Godolphin colours straight away but is to be trained by Jim Bolger for the rest of his two year old career.

Mixed thoughts on when Godolphin buy a potentially good horse, on the plus side you know it will be campaigned for all the top races both in England and abroad, they are not conservative like Henry Cecil\khalid Abdullah..

On the negative side, well for the last six or seven years they have just about ****ed every horse up, so fingers crossed they have a better result when Dawn Approach goes to train with Godolphin.

Suppose we will never hear the price. Not much chance of getting Jim drunk after the Derby and him spilling the beans!

If they had any sense theyd leave him with him for next year as well, hes gone from one of the favs for the 2000 to a complete co hoper with that shower training him

I guess we'll be lucky to see him as a 3yo so. He'll probably head off to Dubai after the Dewhurst as favourite for the Guineas and reappear in some crap listed contest at Windsor in Autumn 2013.

Dawn Approach stays with Jim Bolger for next year!

    Guineas winner I think.

He wasnt overly convincing with his answer though was he.

I wouldnt trust a word that comes out of their mouth's, so dont be surprised to see him in England next year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Bolger stipulated that the horse stayed in training with him as part of the deal when he sold him to Godolphin. Bolger is one of the shrewdest men in the business. When he sold New Approach to Godolphin, he stayed with Bolger as a 3yo even though he ran in the colours of Princess Haya.
This horse has Derby written all over him. I could see him getting chinned in a 2,000 Guineas just like his sire was. Seems to take him a while to get into top gear just like New Approach, but over 10 furlongs and 12 furlongs he should be very difficult to beat. I'd prefer to take 12/1 about him for The Derby than 5/1 for the 2,000 Guineas.

I doubt he'll get much further beyond a mile. 10f will probably be his limit and even that might be a stretch. There is not a great deal of stamina on his dam side. She ran five times - three times at 6f, once at 7f and once at a mile. Her sire never had a winner beyond 10f according to the RP's bloodstock site.

New Approach's dam was an Irish Champion Stakes winner.

The lack of stamina on the dam's side wouldn't worry me too much. Dawn Approach to me looks like a horse who, the further he goes the better he looks. He finishes his races really well. Looks like a carbon copy of his sire.

Trading Leather looks like Bolger's Derby horse. Showed great guts to get back up there having been headed.

yeah, agree with all of that. definite 12f horse, derby winner written all over him if his breeding comes through, his auld lad wasn't sharp enough for a mile at 3

Was told this morning that Bolger got 7.5 mill for a half share in Dawn Approach so it's very possible that he will stay in training with him next season since he still owns half the horse.
