Then you have a CAN system in your car. If you swop the red and yellow around you will notice that the Raido stays on for about 2mins after the key has been removed. this is not good for the car as its using a positive CAN signal wire to switch on the Raido. It can cause problems down the line with clocks and Central locking. If you lift the gear gater the wire for the cig lighter is there on the cig lighter I can't remember the color of the f
Wire for the positive but the earth is green and yellow get a wire from the positive side and bring it to the red wire on the Raido. It may sound a bit of a job but it's easy to do.

Hi da langer. I seam to be in the same situation. I have a Peugeot 206 year 2002 car and i just installed a new radio.

I swapped the wires from (red to red and yellow to yellow) to (yellow to red and red to yellow). The radio stays on after a switch the ignition off.

So from what i understood from your explanation, i keep the red to yellow configuration and bring the wire from the cig lighter to the red wire. Now by red wire which one do you mean? The red one coming from the stereo or the red one going to the car?

I am confused? And could you tell me with wire must i bring from the cig? Is there more simple way of doing this?

    Thank you for your time.

keep your yellow to yellow and bring a new wire from an ignition feed i.e fusebox, cigarette lighter or similar to the red wire of your replacement radio wiring loom, you may also need an antenna adaptor too, available in most motor factors for less than a fiver,
    hope this helps.

What brand of radio did you fit. Does your original radio have a seperate lcd display unit.

Hi , i didn't bring a wire from the cig lighter but found the yellow wire(12v on and off when i turn the key) from pack of wires before i plug in the radio.
All looks ok now it saves presets and clock. And turns on and off with key. But now i seem to have a problem with the speakers when i turn the engine on going from power on, with key to engine on. the speakers makes a loud thump.

    What could it be?

    Thanks for your help

most likely a wiring issue which needs to be rectified, you should have 2 iso block connectors which is one for power and the other with 8 wires is for the speakers, check that there is nothing interfering with/tapped into the speaker block as if there is this can cause permanent damage to the radio.

Nothing interfering with the speaker block. I also now got a another problem my display freezes now. Can't change the time on the display and messages on display freezes. Resets and all is fine when i switch off the engine and start it again.

There is a possibility that the can system is interfering with the radio. Try your radio in another car or on a workbench and see how it behaves.

Yes i also think the can system is interfering with the radio. But i don't think you understood my problem. The display of the car is freezing up not the display of the radio.

What i think is wrong is before my stock radio from peugeot used to show the info of radio station volume etc... on the display of the car now that the radio is gone i think the can system still thinks that the aftermarket radio is my old radio... to sum it all up i think it is maybe some wire coming from the car to radio that shouldn't be connected.

That is why I said to try the radio in another car so as to eliminate either the car or radio.
My full time job is repairing all types of car audio and I see your type of complaint on a regular basis. To rectify your complaint is a process of elimination.

OK so i checked the radio in another car and all works good.
What i tried today was plugin my old stock radio in my peugeot and all works good my display on the car doesn't freeze.
Its when i use my aftermarket radio that the display of the freezes up. The time on the clock doesn't change. But if i switch off and on the engine it updates the clock.

What i think i need to find out is what wire goes to the radio that used to show info from stock radio on my display of the car. Because the aftermarket radio doesnt show info on my car display and i don't need it. All i want is for it not to freeze up and show the time.

Here are some pics of my wires:

I tried the car without the radio. i just let the wires hang out with nothing connected and the same problem... Display of the car freezes up. :(
