So it only works if you have the books delivered to your (Irish) billing address and not another (Irish) delivery address?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 104 ✭✭jmadoyle

didn't work for me , ordered using new email, once i selected Ireland as address it diverted to the .ie site,

    any help greatly appreciated.

If you can get this working and have children,

I highly recommend the Roald Dahl collection, plus the Michael Morphugo collection and the Enid Blyton set, all sets are brilliant value.

Worked for me, can't advise on why it might not be working for others. I have put a good few orders on the uk site since last year. I use firefox as my browser if that makes a difference. The last thread on thebookpeople may have some tips on how to get over problems http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056407033 Deleting cookies may do the trick according to that thread.

Yes, sorry if I didn't make that clear in the OP!

Disappointing that they wont accept Paypal. had a few good bargains in the basket before I realised :(.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 104 ✭✭jmadoyle

thanks op, finally got it to work,

trick is not to sign into account while on the .co.uk site, when checking out it asks for your email address and then use the ( in a hurry? just checkout option) and then fill in your address details and payment in sterling,

    hope this helps

    cheers

    Thanks Lindtee

Just put in an order for Christmas & saved €35 on a £40 order by not having to use the .ie site.

Disgraceful price differences on almost everything.

Ronald Dahl collection of 15 stories £14.39 (after 10% discount) on te Irish site its €28.99

Also got the new Jamie book as a free gift so a very happy camper today :D

Anyone any idea how long it takes them to ship the orders? Its only two days later but still showing up as order received.

Afraid patients was never my strong point  was a bit concerned about whether the order was going to go through because it was on the uk site & not roi site.

Got an email update a couple of minutes ago to say one of the books has been dispatched. This was the only book that wasn't in the sale & wasn't available on the ie site.

    Thanks for the info vicwatson

Anyone know if this is still working, I did try it but doesn't sem to be.

The "in a hurry" option seems to be gone when trying to check out.

    Am I doing something wrong?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 234 ✭✭Kajor

    Hi Vic,

No you're not doing anything wrong as such, you're just not continuing on.

    1) Click checkout ->
    2) Enter e-mail address, click continue ->
    3) Don't sign into account while on the .co.uk site, click just checkout ->
    4) Fill in details, click continue ->
    5) Put in any discount code in Order Totals section
    5) Put in payment details, click £Pay now

    Hth
    K.

    1. Yes I click Checkout
    2. Any e-mail address ?? or...?

The problem I'm finding is that the JUST CHECKOUT option is gone, unless there is a different www that I'm not using ?? When i do go to checkout and enter Ireland as my delivery address then it goes to the pay page and converts it to the EURO price.

It looks as if they've copped on and changed the website as I cannot find the JUST CHECKOUT option anymore???

    Hellllpppp !! Thanks

Definitely reverting to Irish prices when you select Ireland in drop down ... strange. I registered my email way back and can always order in £'s but I just tested there using another email and work address but it went to €'s.

Surprisingly the paddy tax doesn't apply for the manbooker collection which is £29.99 on co.uk and only €35 on .ie - use "OFFERSEP" to get free shipping. Looking at my credit card I got charged the £29.99 transaction came through as €38.16 so nearly 10% more expensive via co.uk.

I may have to set-up a second account now for the extreme circumstances when .ie prices are cheaper :D

Don't forget to use "OFFERSEP" for free shipping on orders over £1. A full updated list of codes available at hukd:http://www.hotukdeals.com/vouchers/thebookpeople.co.uk?&closed=0

Yep, I'd imagine its fairly rare that .ie is cheaper. For kids books/collections I think they come up with the Euro price by just multiplying stg by 2 - its insane.
