Sky / UPC / total muckup

    Please help...

First, we had the standard Sky tv package (standard box, dish, etc.)

Then we switched to NTL tv package.

After poor service from NTL over several months, we returned to Sky and went with the Sky+ box.

This box required 2 cables instead of the standard 1---and so the installer said, "Ah, I'll just use the NTL cable."

    Grand, until now.

Now we've signed up for UPC internet, and we don't have a cable to plug into the back of it!

We contacted Sky about this seeming shortcut their installer took---although we don't fully understand HOW they used an existing NTL cable---shouldn't it have one from the dish to the box???---but Sky have said they'll charge us between €65 and €100 for an engineer to come out.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? I hope I'm making sense :(

The sky installer cut the ntl cable somewhere outside of the house and connected the second dish feed to the cable part which is leading into your house.
It is maybe a better idea to let do upc the installation for your internet. The question is who should overtake the costs.

Sky, of course. The installer had no business using the redundant UPC cable as a shortcut for his install. OP, did he by chance ask you would it be OK to use it ?
