Urgent: Ryanair advice needed

My wife returned from Reus airport to Dublin with Ryanair, Monday gone.
Yesterday when going through her suitcase she found that zip was opened in one sectioned only, where she had jewellery box. This jewellery box is now missing. In what section do you report this? They only as far as I can see, have missing baggage procedeures. As usual Ryanair make it very difficult to get relevant info.

My gut feeling is you should contact the police authority for the departure airport area. More likely to be baggage handlers at that airport than anywhere else in the journey.

I had a bag of presents I bought in Turkey in my lugggage and they were taken out of my luggage between Izmir and Dublin . I have a feeling that they went missing in dublin airport. When we landed in dublin it took an awful long time for the baggage to arrive.

You would have needed to report it to the luggage office in Dublin immediately (i.e. at the airport, before leaving arrivals). There is nothing that can be done after the fact.

However, airlines will not accept responsibility for valuables checked in..and as you've now learned, there is a reason for that. You could, of course, report it to the police - but which police? You've no idea where it went missing for sure, and they're about as likely to go look into it as you are to get the jewelery back.

Did you have travel insurance? If so, look in to making a claim there, but likewise you may find it tough to claim for something that should of been carried on the person.

Have checked with the travel insurance company, but seem to be in an infinite loop. They will not do anything unless we get certain ID numbers from Ryanair, but they seem to only do this with lost luggage? The travel insurance seems to me to be a con! The items were not that expensive, but had sentimental value.

A friend of mine had a camera taken from his bag a few years back. He had to go to the Servisair (or whatever the name of the handling company was), they had a desk just before you left arrivals. They gave him a form with a load of numbers on it that he needed for the travel insurance but it ended up being too much hassle to claim.

Maybe ring Servisair and ask them?

I know it's too late now but it's much better to keep any valuables in your hand luggage and if you must put them into your suitcase to check it the moment you pick it up from the carousel, it's difficult enough claiming on your travel insurance without making it easier for them to deny your claim.
