Sweet feck all for pheasant because they can buy all the farmed pheasants they want.

Dont think woodcock is worth much either because they are all so small. probably under a 5er.

I'd say stay curious and dont bother with it. Why shoot them if you dont eat them?

Chatting to a game keeper in England two years ago he was getting £1.50 per bird.....There is more value eating the bird yourself

I enjoy shooting and i have eaten some of the birds i have shot but i don't want excess going to waste if people wont take them and if they even covered a box of cartridges at least the birds wouldn't go to waste and i would have something out of them.

I hope you don't think that I am telling you your business but I really cannot see the enjoyment in shooting game that you or your family or friends are not going to make a nice meal out of.
The day I start trying to flog pheasant or woodcock in order to cover the cost of shooting them will be the day I hang up my gun for good.
That's just my opinion but each to their own and all that....

Your entitled to your opinon but i enjoy going out on a sunday with my dog and gun going shooting. its fresh air like to see the dog working and a bit of exercise for myself and I have no intention of hanging up my gun. I love shooting and I like eating game but if I don't eat it or friends won't take it i would like to give to someone that can make use of it then weather or not i get money for it.

Not knocking you at all just saying that its not for me. Sure I go shooting for all the same reasons and getting a bird is a bonus.
Why don't you prepare and freeze your excess game and then organise a BBQ in the following summer and use it all up. If you invite a few around that might not normally eat game you may convert a few to it and then they will see the benifits of shooting. Just an idea.

No rule that the shooter has to eat them, but they should be eaten by someone or not shot at all.

da lad asked a question, but you be preaching like a bishop to him. It not like pheasant are rare or be a native beast, they on the same level as the like as grey squirrel.

Look I really don't know what your problem is. The lad asked for some info I offered my opinion on the matter. Ace seems to be happy with what I offered and nobody has a problem bar yourself.
I have no problem with anybody having different opinions to myself if we could debate it sensibly. If you want to talk some more to me about it then by all means pm me.

Thread is really derailed enough so would be best to get back on topic.

Both non-native to da country. Both common.
Pheasant fodder through the woods and hedgerows for invertebrates, seeds and seedlings and compete with native birds and other wildlife.
Grey squireels out compete with red lads and ate bird eggs/nestling.
    Both damaging

How long would pheasants survive if they were not reared in MASSIVE numbers every year by gunclubs etc. Have you any idea how much vermin is shot every year to try and protect Pheasants and help increase their numbers and you compare them to a grey squirrel (Vermin):confused::confused::confused::confused:
So what if they are not non native-show me someone that wants rid of them.
