Recommend SUV / Jeep

The wonderfish

Looking to pickup a 2nd hand jeep/suv, know damm all really about these so was wondering if anyone had some recommendations

Bit of info...

I would be hoping to get something for less than 17k if at all possible
Nothing older than 08, ideally 09/10
Decent boot space is really driving the need, new addition to the family and buggys take up more boot space than I thought!

Any advice greatly appreciated

First question - have you looked at large estates? They're better to drive, safer, and cheaper to run.

That's gas that you don't even think of estates in fairness. i'd stay away from crew-cabs whatever about 'softer' or more upmarket SUVs. I have a Navara as a 2nd vehicle and it's crude, slow and thirsty in comparison to a car.

Problem is nice estates are quite rare s/h in this country. Of course you could also have some people carrier yoke:

Ford kuga
Land rover free lander 2


Understand I will probably need to stretch the budget a bit

OP, you said you wanted space, and then you go and mention a jacked up Focus! After all, the Kuga shares the floorpan and running gear from a Focus.

In my opinion, forget all on the list. They are no bigger than an ordinary hatch in terms of bootspace. I'd have a long look at estates

I hate SUVs but if you're looking for a nappy-wagon with a big boot, the Hyundai Sante Fe certainly fits the bill. There are ~20 passenger models listed on carzone that are under €17k and 2008 or younger. There are even a few 4x4 7-seater models.

Seriously though, buy a proper family car. As Anan1 pointed out (albeit about the estate versions) they're better to drive, safer, and cheaper to run than SUVs. If you're worried about boot space look for hatchback/lift-back models of large family cars (e.g. Mondeo or Superb).

Feck yer boat, buy this S-Max.

Ok i actually went and checked out the kuga and yes it has feck all boot space so thats gone, sportage didnt inspire me either so will rule that out aswell

Really dont like those people carriers or estates at all, I would rather compromise a bit on boot space so with that in mind I am going to check out the santa fe, also someone mentioned the Honda CRV anyone have any experience with these?
