No direct connection - Train or Bus Eireann route 126 to Kildare or Newbridge and taxi to racecourse.

Hardly. There are two direct public transport connections from Dublin:

    http://www.curragh.ie/racing/transport-parking/

    - Irish Rail from Heuston to Kildare Town with a complimentary shuttle bus
    - Dublin Coach offer a Curragh Race Bus from Westmoreland Street or Red Cow Luas

That's for race days only - the OP needs to get there on a non-racing day.

Check where in the racecourse you need to go.

When you get on the bus, ask the bus driver to drop you as close as possible to the motorway interchange between Newbridge and Kildare. Have a taxi prearranged or walk for about 20-40 minutes.
