How long does it take for vaccines to become effective?

I was originally intent on heading in late July to Thailand and Malaysia for a number of weeks; I've now had to revise that plan because of exam woes. I'm scheduled to receive my vaccinations tomorrow; what would be the earliest date that I could touch down in Thailand with adequate vaccine coverage?

I've heard lots of different takes on this, depends on which vaccine I guess (and we're not supposed to give medical advice here). But I would say about 6 weeks.
