    Hi, there.
I am looking for ACCA BPP F6 Irish text book. BPP will have them only in Sept. I want to start a bit earlier. Would consider used, but not older than 2011. Thanks!

I have a text book from Julie Hawkins from the June sitting and I have all the extra revision questions if you want them? Would be quite alot of stuff in them. Where abouts are you?

I am not familiar with this book. tell me more. I am in Donegal.

I did a revision course in Dublin with her for 6 weeks, she is one of the best lecturers for F6. She wrote the book herself and its pretty easy to follow but to be honest I dont know if it was easier for me because i attended her revision course. Have you any experience with Tax?

No, studying myself. Would I need to buy something from the BPP? And what they offer-would you know if it worth to bother with their text?

I am very interested in book and rev. questions you have. I do not want to delay with start, as I probably will need to repeat f5 (which is very dissapointing). would you be able to send books?

Yeah no problem but there is quite alot of weight in the books so might cost a bit to send. Ill package it all up and ill enquire in the post office about how much it will cost to send and ill let you know.

To answer your previous post I dont think you will need to get anything else from BPP because the books and revision questions that I have will be more than enough to cover the course.

Thank you very much! would you by any chance have smth worthy for F5? I think my knowledge of text book is not enough to pass it, even though I have been practicing a lot of questions from revision and previous papers, and I was thinking this was enough to get me through. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi try getting your hands on a book by colin drury either the costing one or the cost & management accounting one as he does lots off examples and breaks it down in very easy steps and explains it very well.

No sorry havent done F5 yet, probably will do it at the december sitting but i dont know! Im dreading that one cause im no good at all that stuff! What book do you have for F5 at the min?

I have BPP text&revision book. and knew it inside out and have past exam papers practised. but exam questions were lot more difficult. VERY DISSAPOINTED! I have spent so much time on this paper. To expensive to do course as I pay myself for everything.

Thats a balls alright. Did you practise the past exam papers? I want to try and study on my own without doing any revision courses, is that what you did? Did you do F5 on its own or did you do another paper along with it? sorry for all the questions!

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 SvetaMega

I did only that paper, as I knew it is difficult and I did not want to do 2 papers. I prefer to do only one at the time, to be sure I pass it from first time. I practised a lot of past papers, was sure I can do alright. Studied myself, did not do revision course, and I think I should have. Did you do F6 already? only one or with something else? Why do you sell books? thanks for replying to all questions!!:o As I am mad about myself being not capable of passing from first time, having spent ALL THIS TIME and I want to know more from other people. Thanks again!

I sat F6 and F4 this June, these are the first two that i have done so far. I think i did alright in F6, i didnt have any trouble with the questions in the exam and i work in an accountants office so i was knowledgeable in alot of the course to start with. Fingers crossed i passed anyway but ill take the chance! I studied F4 on its own with no classes and just did the revision course on F6. F4 was grand too but i wouldnt be as confident that i passed so ill hold onto that book til results! Dont know what to sit next but was hoping to do two more in December cause i have 9 left to do and time is ticking on, dont want to be doing them til im well into my thirties!
I was meant to add there that dont worry you never know you might pass F5! I have heard several people who swore they failed and passed so dont fret too much until you get the results! Did you answer all the questions on the paper?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 SvetaMega

Yes, answered them all, as good as I could. Realise now that it is not enough to know the material (theory), as questions are scenarios. Past papers looked allright, when I was preparing. I gave as much theory as possible in my answers. I should have done revision! And there is nothing in Donegal, the closest- Belfast or Dublin! Do you know is there anywhere courses for December sittings?

No I dont think there is any courses nearer but it might be worthwhile if you ring around a few colleges close to you and they might know of some lecturers or something. I had to travel to Dublin, im in Leitrim so wasnt too bad but it was still a pain in the ass! Thats why im studying on my own cause there is nowhere near me that does the courses that wont take at least two hours!
You still have a good chance of passing, especially if you put alot into your answers, even if you didnt get the right figures, you will still get marks for having knowledge of the subject so fingers crossed for ya! Have you done any other exams apart from F5?

I have done f1 to f5 so far, as I am a foreigner (from far-far away), my qualif gave me exemption from only f1, which I decided not to take, as my English was pretty bad and I wanted to get in to takling-working-socialising quickly, so studying really helped. did well in all f1-to f4. and you are right about "thirties", I am in their second half. So I do not have the luxury of time which you have. Where abouts are you in Leitrim, I have smbd living in Mannorhamilton, we might organise books or I can come up. I was going there soon any way. thanks for very informative chat!:)
