Plastic oil tank has a leak

There's a small crack on the side of the tank where the oil is slowly oozing out. I'm collecting the leaking oil in a container on the ground.

    Can the crack be repaired?

If so, could I do it myself or would I need a professional?

No, replace your oil tank immediately, it cannot be repaired an when cracked may fail at anytime. Cleanup costs from tank leaks/failures can run into many 1000s euros!

Soap will plug the split as a short term fix.

Soap is fine while waiting for your emergency replacement, but will do nothing to prevent the tank failing at any time

    Thanks for the advice.

I now have a new tank.
