Plenty of recognizable names on that list. Will be interesting if Harrington or Clarke make it in. Goosen and O'Meara probably have the best chance of getting in imo and maybe Fred Couples because he is a legend in the game.

Remember reading an article before which said anyone with 2 or more majors is pretty much guaranteed a slot. Think it was basing this on the fact that nobody in the past who has acheived this didn't get in. Harrington is a sure to get in at some point.

On average they seem to elect 5 new members each year, so I would think Harrington, Goosen and O'Meara as winners of more than one major and Couples and Duval as former world number ones would be the most likely candidates.

Actually Woosnam is also a multiple major winner - surprising he hasn't already made it and Monty must also be in with a shout.

Woosnam only won 1 major, the '91 Masters.

You're absolutely right. My bad. But he was also world number 1 for a while.

I had a look at the criteria and you usually need 65% approval to get elected, so it's not necessarily a shoe in for anyone.

"The PGA TOUR Voting Body, comprised of golf journalists, historians and golf dignitaries, determines who is elected through this category each year. Election requires 65% of returned ballots. In the event that no candidate receives 65%, the nominee receiving the most votes with at least 50% is elected."

I presume the Voting Body can make as many votes as they wish, but getting to 65% would be very challenging if the number of votes is restricted.

Plus Woosnam is a winning Ryder Cup Captain from 2006 @ The K Club :o

Just saw an article on ESPN saying that Fred Couples got elected to the Hall of Fame. He was the only one to get in on the PGA Tour ballot and just scraped in with 51%. Davis Love III and Ken Venturi were next with 38%. Sounds like a tough voting panel this year.

The article also said that the results from the International ballot, along with who is selected from the Veteran's category and the Lifetime Achievement Award are still to be announced.

    The article is here http://espn.go.com/golf/story/_/id/8400045/fred-couples-elected-world-golf-hall-fame

Looks like we might have to wait a while to hear where PH gets elected. The Hall of Fame website states that the inductees from the International Ballot and Veterans and Lifetime Achievement categories will be announced in the coming months.

The results of the PGA ballot are listed and David Duval's nomination got only 1% approval!

Full listing is shown here http://www.worldgolfhalloffame.org/media/press_release.php?pr=hof111

It's just occurred to me that 38% is not exactly a resounding vote of confidence in this year's U.S. Ryder Cup captain.

Colin Montgomerie is only candidate to get elected through the International Ballot. He got 51% approval, with Harrington getting only 19% and Clarke only 5%.
