It's never a good idea to spend a lot of money on a car under time pressure. Buy this and take your time looking: http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=6013330150624700

You might even clear a couple of quid profit if you sell it in winter. Or you might never sell it at all..

Disclaimer: I haven't viewed this car, but it looks like a buy me. I'd say it has FSSH too.

OP, you need to take time out and decide what exactly you want. You have linked a 4wd diesel saloon to a petrol estate with the only thing I can see in common is that they are all within your budget. Buying on impulse especially on that sort of budget can in most cases end in heartache or regret. If you really do need something quickly then go down the bangernomics route, at least that way you will not loose a pile of money on it if it doesn't work out.

I was under the impression that legroom in the back of the 159 is not generous, particularly with a tall driver?

I'm not sure on the saloon but on the Sportwagon you would actually be surprised. My brother can sit behind my driving position fine and we're both six foot. Being honest I suggested it due to it being a lot of good-looking car for the money these days. €16k would buy a nice one. Test one and see what you think

    See my sig!

I sent you a PM about it but don't know if you got it or not!

why would he want a diesel at that milage...unless he wants to make life exceptionally hard for himself.

Because the petrol Alfa 159's suck, that's why.
