    Quick bit of advice..

    06 Punto - NCT till 2014 170km on clock.

Had a number of issues, over heating, starter, water pump... there are others.

Been playing up again lately been informed that the head gasket has gone and will need replacing.

The mechanic did inform us this would happen due to the over heating previously..

Anyway, been offered a 1200 quid and they'd take it off us?

Is it worth looking at getting the gasket worked on and struggling on with this car or would we be better off getting rid and taking what we can for it.

We have lost any confidence in the car as it has let us down a number of tme and has had hundreds spent on it in the last few months, plus a few 2nd hand parts.

    Advice appreciated.

Overheating will certainly cause the HG to fail.

Is the car petrol or diesel?

Unless there is some severe damage that we don't know about then you would have the car repaired properly for a good bit less then €1200.

If overheated, more than likely the oil rings will be broke. New rings and shells needed. Been there, done that.

Not an over expensive repair if I may add but labour is the killer.

Did you buy the car 2nd hand?

Yes, we bought the car 2nd hand, it had just short of a 100k on it when we got it..

Feel like I may just get rid of it and get the 1200 and add a grand or 2 toward it and get something a little more reliable.

It's just sometimes you think you're getting ripped off...
