    Hi Guys,

As the title suggests I need oil for my new Levin :D:D

It has 222000 and is using a bit of oil. Not sure what the previous owner put in it (haven't got around to changing it myself yet but the previous owner did it at 220000. Think he said he used 10w-40)

Toyota say to use 5w-30, people form the internets say that they use 10w-40. So basically my question is what would you use???

Also the power steering fluid is really manky looking so I was going to change that next weekend. Will normal ATF be Ok for it or will it need to be special stuff??

    Thanks in advance.

I would always put Mobil1 5w50 or Castrol 10w60 into a performance car, yours is suppose to be one right?
As for power steering, use ATFIII or better.

That oil seems very thick compared to the factory spec.... Would that not make the oil pressure super too high.

    Would this ATF be Suitable?

Those oils were made for performance engines, can`t see any problem using them. Had a few performance car before, always used one or the other myself, can`t complain. Of course you can go ahead and use a fully synthetic 10w40 no problem and probably you`ll never notice any difference unless you do your own work on the engine.

Yeah, use Dexron III or better ATF fluid, shouldn`t take much, approx 0.9l, but don`t quote me on that.

Well I do want a Difference. I'm looking for what is going to be the best for my engine and hopefully it will soldier on for many years to come. I'm also hoping to achieve a lower oil consumption.

If your have no oil leak, then the oil consumption your are suffering is down to already worn components.

High revving, N/A engines require very regular oil changes using high quality oil. The grade of oil that is best depends on your use of the car. Always road use, occasional track use, regular track use, short trips etc etc.

For performance cars I'd only be using high quality Ester based oils like Millers etc, these remain much more stable at the higher temps that high compression engines create then standard synthetic or fully synthetic oils.

The car is only going to be used on the road ( but driven hard from time to time.)
I know that it is burning the oil I was just wondering what I could do to minimize this, if anything.

I had an ae111 for 3 years with 220k plus kms on it, (i put WELL over 100k kms on it)

Twas using a fair sup of oil, the valve stem seals get fairly worn around that mileage.

I always used a good quality semi synth 10w/40 as recommended on numerous occasions by 4age experts. And never had any trouble, you do need to keep a very regular check of oil level though, they murder oil once reaching those kind of miles, and the bottom end will rattle very quickly if its not kept topped up.

To counter the oil usage, a rebuild with changing of seals etc is the main option.

Ok thanks everyone for your help.

`Just wondering there if there is a plug to drain the power steering fluid or do you just pull a hose off?
