    Hi All,
I'm looking to replace my current UPS an old Trust device with 3 outlets - I'm now running out of outlets! Ideally I'd like to hook up 2 x Laptops; 3 x Iomega StorCenters and a WD Worldbook to UPS with some spare outlets just for surge protection....not a lot to ask really!

Does anyone have any suggestions, or features to look out for/ avoid?

    thanks in advance,

    SH

Can you not just increase the number of outlets with one of those 4-way socket board things? The 2euro shops usually have them.

You ever seen the outputs on a UPS?

Yeah, just cut the opposite end off the lead that comes from the ups and put a four way plug board on it then plug your devices into it as you would a wall socket, have done it before and it worked perfect, you can then have four surge protected devices on each outlet of the ups.

Note: If you have four devices on each output the battery will not last long in a power cut.

APC devices are pretty good. I would go for either the 1000 or 1500 model.

    .....OR.......

you could go for an APC 550 which looks like a big surge protector. One side is surge protected with 4 3pin sockets and the other is battery backed for another 4 3 pin sockets.

(no I don't work for APC, we just use them here at work)
