hi, i recently strained my medial ligaments and am laid up for the past 9 days. my bro i law is a physio and took 20 mins to look at it for free and said its pretty standard injury and ill be laid up this week and light duties and physio after that.
i wont bother him again as he is busy and doesnt live close so ill go to the club physio.
my question is regarding the insurance. i cant remember if my membership is paid, i dont think so as i wasnt around at the start of the year when those things are collected.
off work all last week and will be this week, and the club sec is a d#$%head and if you knew no better, youd think it was his chequebook. he would almost have you grovel if he could. now i ovb have bills and 2 weeks off cannot slide.

where do i start, can i lodge an insurance claim without the sec, the chairman is sound so i can go to him to sign a form or anything.

    thnks all

You'd only be covered for the second week off and not the first, as for the rest, I'd have to check.

When did the injury occur, was it during a game?

If you haven't paid your membership, you won't be covered in terms of the GAA's overall insurance, so I think you are out of luck.

Your club shouldn't have let you take the pitch if you are not covered by insurance.

Also I think that any results a team gets with an unregistered player (which would be what someone who hasn't paid membership; membership and insurance are covered by the same system) can be overturned (It's unlikely this will happen but I think it's in the rules somewhere)

The club might give you something directly out of the club's funds but I doubt it.

If you weren't around (if you were abroad) you might have been in OZ/UK and if you played there and paid anything there you might be covered by that? It's remote but could be a possibility.

To anyone else it's vital you have you membership dues paid if you're playing.

The club should have an insurance officer go to him first.

If a player plays an unregistered member, then if it is proved, the game is forfeited.

They might have registered you. It only costs a club €2 regardless of what your membership fee to the club is. I know this cos I have to do it every year (there's always a few wishy washy lads who we need to make up our second team).

oh no, i mis read, i am regged for sure, but im not a member. our membership and insurance are taken by way of buying a 100e blotto ticket that provides 1 entry to a weekly 2e draw. the fact that it covers membership/insurance is the incentive to purchase this way. Im sure most are fimilar with the system.
but i am registered to play GAA with my club
