    I'm just looking at TVE online. Anyone know of any good programmes? I'm thinking something like a good comedy, or nature programme, travel programme etc

    I even used to look at this coooking programme with these two middle aged guys that traveled around Spain cooking the regional dish...it was called something like blah blah comersia??

    On La Sexta, El Intermedio is a hilarious kind of news/comedy show, something along the lines of The Daily Show or the Colbert Report.

    On La Dos they've some sort of nature programs, but I'm not really sure about the schedule. On La Una they've classic movies on Wednesday evenings AFAIR, and never one on Sunday evenings.

    About travel, there is a TV show in the evenings (Don't remember what day of the week) called: "Españoles por el mundo", very interesting.
    If you are in Madrid, you can also watch a version of that show, called: "Madrileños por el mundo".
    Probably there are more versions in other areas/communities (local TV).

    When I landed in Madrid, I had but 3 over-used phrases to survive on, but I quickly found a LOT of great material online from RTVE.

    Also, worth a watch once your level of Spanish picks up;

    The Spanish ´Friends´, more of less.

    Actually, the Spanish TV is regrettable so I think is better if You go directly to see Spanish movies. For example Celda 211, Rec, El orfanato...

    I'm partial to 'Callejeros' and 'Callejeros viajeros' on Cuatro, as well as 'Este es mi barrio' on La Sexta.

    If you want some absolute lols 'Mujeres y hombres y viceversa' on the king of trashy TV, Telecinco, is also worth a look, even just for five minutes.

    mitele.es has loads of tv shows for free, for me the best ones are Callejeros, Callejeros por el mundo, Conexion Samanta and 21 dias. They are documentaries about everyday matters

    Hey IrishExpat, I realise you wrote this ages ago, but I just wanted to say thanks, as I was looking for something just like this and it's still a great link.

    Spanish TV is just awful!

    However, there are some great Spanish language movies out there. I'd be grateful for any recommendations as to documentaries, comedies, news etc. I'd prefer something with hardcoded Spanish subs, gracias!

    You can catch all episodes of Aida on some of those watch tv online sites.. It's kinda funny and you get to know the characters and their personalities pretty quick... I liked it and it helped me to work on my listening skills while also introducing me to new words and build my vocabulary

    Search "ver Aida online" in google and you'll more than likely find them :)
