    Just trying to gauge interest...
Would anyone be up for a free half day home recording workshop in the Celbridge/Maynooth/Leixlip area?

Was going to run the workshop...cover the basics of getting a home setup going, tips/tricks I've picked up over the years, etc...

I'd be interested too! Coming from Dublin (handy enough to get to all those places, right?) Why so generous though, I wonder? :)

    Will PM you both details.

Not sure what you're getting at tbh...
There are pro studio guys on here who have given their time and experience for free having people from this forum out to their places for recording, or tutorial days...Paul Brewer has organised a couple of days with gear manufacturers, Trackmix has had us out to go through his tracking and mixing process, Declan at Bluebird Studios has given two fantastic days on compressors and mixing...

I've been recording at home, in studios and on location for over ten years now. The idea of this workshop is for me to share some experience with people who I've been in the same boat as, cover some tips and tricks I've pick up along the way, and have some discussion about getting the most out of recording at home, most of the time in less than ideal conditions.

I'm not doing this looking for clients or anything...I've three sessions coming up in the next while which I'm also doing for free, because I like the acts, and feel I can help them out by recording them in the fantastic tracking space I have access to. I don't have an agenda, so we can check any suspicions at the door...

Just finalising location...will be the 21st of July, 11am-3pm pending confirmation with the venue.
Hope to have that confirmation by tomorrow or Friday, will post here as soon as I do.

Ciaranmac, I'll be covering stuff from the basics upwards.
I know some of the guys have a good base of knowledge and experience, but I want to try to make sure there's something for everyone...from those just starting out, to those who've been at it a while.

Many thanks to Tony for running this. Great fun, informative and well worth the short spin up from H2Oford.

+1 to that. Was a very informative session & always good to meet up with other Boardsies.

Hats off to Fitz for organising (and for the loan of the mic!)

    Thanks guys.
Glad everyone got something out of it.
I think these kind of days are great for getting people talking and sharing knowledge and experiences, which can only be a good thing.

How you getting on with the mic btw Mark?

Yip - some very good practical tips for the home recordists.

I'll be trying the mic out tonight on acoustic guitar & vocals. Curious to see how the mid side technique works on the acoustic. Will prob drop it back to you tomorrow evening if that's OK?

    Thanks again

    No problem.
    Tomorrow evening is fine.
Lovely mic on male vocals...really smooth.
