Hi there, I was wondering if someone could tell me the fastest or easiest way to get from Dublin to Clonakilty by public transport on a weekday morning if I was due to be in Clonakilty for around midday. I don't mind getting a connection from Cork City but I'm not familiar with the route at all so I'm hoping someone might have some advice! Thanks.

A great site for public transport is getthere.ie
How about http://getthere.ie/dublin-clonakilty/25-Jun. Leave at 8 and arrive for 12:35.

You realise that Clonakilty is a fair bit past Cork? First arrival is midday.

Train from Heuston or Aircoach from Westmoreland Street will get you to Cork for about 10:00.

Then from Cork Bus Station get Bus Éireann route 237 or 252.

Your best bet is the Aircoach service which leaves from the City Centre and goes direct to cork, you then need to get a bus from Parnell Place bus station to Kenmare (252) or Scibbereen (237) which stops in Clonakilty.

I know that Cork is far away from Clonakilty; I just haven't travelled there from Dublin by public transport before and I just wanted to check that there wasn't a service other than Bus Eireann or Irish Rail that I was missing.

Thanks for that link, WexText. I hadn't heard of it before and I will be getting the AirCoach. Thank you.
