Fuji Absolute 2.0, Boardman Hybrid Team or Trek 7.5FX Disc

    Hi guys,

I'm buying a bike with the bike to work scheme and was looking at the boardman and trek initially. When I went into the LBS they told me that the Trek 7.5fx disc has been sold out for the year apparently and recommended the Fuji Absolute 2.0.

I'll be using the bike purely/predominantly for the 13km cycle to work.

When I went in to see the boardman the bike looked great, it felt ok but I just wasn't sure the halfords salespeople knew enough about the bike - they didn't seem to know which mudguards would fit the bike (and ultimately recommended me a mudguard that wouldn't fit the boardman after I did some further research on the matter).

I knew almost nothing about the fuji before the LBS salesperson recommended it. I see it has V brakes instead of hydraulic disc of Trek and Boardman. But it has a carbon fork over the Trek. The salesperson said he preferred the gearing set up on the fuji - more race styled for the straights than MTB of Trek 7.5fx

The fuji was cheaper too which allowed me to purchase more accessories under the scheme. And the LBS was nice enough to allow me to go on a test ride outside, and explained the various accessories I may need.

Does anyone have experience with the Fuji Absolute 2.0 (or any absolute)? I haven't seen that many reviews for them (as opposed to trek and boardman). Anyone have any other recommendations or suggestions for deciding between the three?

Oh and Abus Sinus Plus lock (and cable) for the fuji - good enough? (Sold secure silver).

The LBS also recommended for me to upgrade/change to the bontrager hard case 28mm over the hutchinson flash 28mm in terms of better resistance to punctures (due to more kevlar/hardness)?

I have a 2011 trek 7.5FX that I purchased on B2W earlier this year, my LBS had the disc version as well. I went with the non disc, no regets, stops well. The fork on the 7.5 is carbon.
My commute is a bit longer than yours at 15 KM, the trek gets me in in 35 minutes or so.

Almost 1000KM on it now, no punctures as of yet and it seems to be holdin up well.

I heard that the 2011 7.5 had better components than the 2012 version? (or just "different").

I was thinking around 35 minutes too - which would be fantastic as the bus is taking around 48 minutes right now (along the N11).

I own one, i had a Fuji absolute previously but it was stolen during the course of a burglary . My girlfriend got me the absolute 2.0 as a surprise birthday present a few months later! i absolutely <please excuse the pun> love this bike. I had a specialized sirrus a few years ago but prefer the Fuji if I'm being honest. I wouldn't even say its as comfortable as the specialized but i just prefer it for some reason. I only use it for the commute into and out of work and the odd spin here and there. Have about 3,000km on it so far and it's working perfectly so far. It also looks great.

    Would recommend it.

Great to hear that, I went with the fuji in the end. Trusted the lbs to recommend me something that would suit me. And the price difference meant that most accessories were covered too.

Sorry to hear about your loss in a burglary. I've gotten two locks for it, an abus sinus plus and a kyrptonite new york (one's staying in work). Funny how the locks will weigh 1/3 of the bike itself.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it's nice to know that there are others who will be using this bike for the same purpose as myself.

Oh and you have an amazing girlfriend from the sounds of it!
