PS3 hd problems

Some fun Friday evening..my phone breaks, my router dies, and ps3 hd connection goes screwy. First off this is not the black screen problem that can happen. the connection is there, the pic is visible on the tv...but only for about 20 seconds! then it starts jumping in and out of a black screen and snow every few seconds. it is completely unusable like this. so i started fiddling with the settings- no joy, tried different hd ports on the tv-no joy, tried a different hd cable- nothing. the connection dosent seem loose at the ps3 end or the tv end and the scart connection is still working. going to drop it into a repair place tomorrow unless any boardsies can shed any light on this for me. cant play the bloody thing without hd; its like playing a ps one when your pi55ed!
