Performance enhancing drugs in boxing

I don't want to start a "insert boxer name" is on steroids and has been doing it for yrs thread but would like to know people's view on the performance enhancing drugs in boxing given the recent failed drugs test - Tarver, Berto, Peterson, Larry Olubamiwo.

Are drugs rampant in the sport?
Are promoter's/different organisations/tv corporations turning a blind eye to it?

Olubamiwo stated that "the majority of the boxers u all love so dear are on stuff, fact and this is from me talking to them, seeing them buy stuff or talking to their training personnel."

Ever notice how when guys like Olubamiwo, who you can tell are on something, get caught out, they always say: 'everybody else is doing it to, but they just don't look as good'? It's a typically way of justifying their cheating.

Not everybody is cheating. Some are, but the fact they're being caught out is not an indication the problem is growing, but rather that testing is becoming stricter.

As I have said before, the standard drug testing in sport, not just Boxing, is a joke. The people who fail do so because they're idiots. It's great that USADA and VADA and the like are getting involved now and doing proper style testing that is capable of catching the cheaters.

Thats just Olumbamiwo trying to justify himself. What boxer, promoter or trainer would admit they or their boxer is on drugs. He was clutching at straws, talkin through his arse.

It does seem to be pretty rife with the recent spate of failed tests and then people like Chavez jnr getting away with missing tests left right and centre..

As for the testing in other sports. Other sports don't involve one man punching another in the face. Boxings dangerous enough without some scumbags taking shortcuts and putting others at even bigger risk.
