I ordered an X Large 57.5 cm boardman team carbon during the week to be delivered to the store at the end of this week. I am just wonderigng if I may have got the sizing wrong. I am just over 6ft in height and I had a road bike previously with a 55.5cm seat and top tube length bike that I felt was a tad bit small and thus went for the x large size. The large size of the boardman is 55cm. Does anyone have an xlarge boardman at around my height and if so hw do you find it for comfort etc and also can anyone else offer an opinion as to whether i should chnge my order to the large one which may provide a better fit. I payed for the bike already fully up front so i am not sure what recourse I would have to change my order

That size sounds right to me. I'm 6'2 and use a 59 - not a boardman though!

Well Im just 6' and have a 2010 team carbon in LG, I had to put a shorter stem on for comfort and I have quite long arms. But its a personal thing. (TBH I prefer my MTB)
I would of got a sit on it before ordering it, but when it come in and get setup spend a bit of time in the shop adjusting thing and you will know straight away if its too big then take a lg instead. ;)

Thanks for the info OEMBS. Thats the worry though in that they have to order the bike in from the UK i presume they may not be so accomodating to allow me to chose a smaller size when I turn up to collect it. I am getting pedals and a bottle cage with the bike aswell so once they assemble everything and I try it out in the shop they may tell me to piss off if I feel a larger would suit better comfort wise. I was intending to get the bike as a bit more relaxed set up hence the reason I chose a large size aswell because I thought I would be more up right on it. Fingers crossed with perhaps a little adjustment of the seat post stem etc that it would be the correct size

There is no reason they should be peed off, which store is it?
Most stores that sell Boardmans should have stock of Md and Lg's in store, XL are special order due to lower demand. If its not right dont take it!!
To get it right you will have to put a short stem on it and that will change the feel of the bike, position and weight dispersion. If you are hoping its more relaxed then a bigger frame will cause you to stretch out and reach out more so if anything a smaller frame wil enable you to have your hands closer to your body giving you a more upright position. Hybrid may be better if thats the position you after.

If you haven't received the bike then I would have thought you are entitled to change the size especially since the store didn't have one in stock for you to sit on to check the size. I'm sure this thing happens to them on a regular basis so they would have some sort of exchange policy.
i'd say talk to them and explain your predicament and see what they say.

So do you think I should have opted for a hybrid. I really like the look of the pro carbon hybrid which is roughly the same cost as the team roadbike. I just wonder how accomodating they would be to swap my order due to thm having ordered the bike to be delivered to the store

As you said above you like the more relaxed position.
But as I seen in the past, someone get a hybrid then down the line they go out with someone on a racer and end up getting a racer for them self as they get left behind on the hybrid. its a toughy but halfords should be accomadating at the end of the day you are still paying the €€'s for the bike and regardless which one sits in there store wont matter to them.
Go into the store and sit on other bikes in LG and take them for a spin, If you buy it in haste and decide after a few weeks you dont like it your stuck with it.
