Found an old Gameboy Colour in the attic!...

As it says... it was pretty cool when i found an old gameboy colour in the attic this evening... with mario in the cart slot!

My young lad is now playing it away and loving it... he even says its better playability than his Dsi!

Its a teal/turquoise colour and its missing its battery cover.

I would love to maybe change the housing of this GB colour to a different colour maybe but couldnt track down any replacement covers/housing on ebay... do such replacement housing/covers exist for this online?

and if failing that could someone point me to an online supplier of replacement parts so i could at least get a replacement battery compartment cover for it.

    Thanks.

Ps... has anyone ever done a mod on these to backlight the screen and does anything like the everdrive cart exist for the GB colour?

Nice find, look here and here for cases and mods. There are flash carts available for GB,though I'm not too sure about GB Color.

The back light mod shouldn't be too difficult with minimal skills and there are plenty of tutorials on youtube.

Good luck with it and keep us informed of how any modding goes.

Just be careful with the GBC, the screen mod is a front light rather than a backlight, which means sacrificing a GBA SP to do it.

Also the screen invert is for the monochrome GBs (the original DMG-01 and the pocket), not doable on the colour. To be honest you're better off investing in a GBA-SP if you want to play GBC games in the dark, I don't think the payoff of killing one to front-light a colour is worth it.

I have to agree, they can be found pretty cheap on ebay and can play everything from the original GB games to GBA games. Or get one of those clip on lights if you want..

My bad, never even realised we were talking about a GBC :o
