How tight should bib tights be?

Bought some bibs online last week and chose the sizing as per the manufacturers guidelines. I've never worn them before so I'm wondering how tight should they be around the err.. ahem.. gentleman's undercarriage region? :o I guess they should be tight so the chamois stays in place but how tight is tight.

Too tight is when they cut off the blood supply and they are uncomfortable. They should be comfy snug, no pain!!

Have you worn them on the bike yet, or just tried them on?

Sometimes they feel a little too tight when you first put them on but when you get on the bike they feel better because you're bent over.

Just tried them on and they feel comfortable but I'm wondering if they should be tighter to avoid saddle soreness during a long spin. I currently use some Altura padded shorts which are fine for the first hour but any longer and they start to become uncomfortable.

Bib tights are sized by length, so you'll know if they're too big because the shoulder straps will be loose-ish when you bend over with no jersey on.

That sounds a bit pervy but I don't know how else to express it.

The ideal cycling short, is one where you simply do not feel that you are wearing one. If it is too lose or too tight then you continually know that it is there.
That said, unless it is restricting blood flow, then tight is preferable to loose.

Should be tight enough to tell if you are circumcised or not!
