    Guys.
    Question for my mate.
    He has a 2004 BMW 525d.
    135k miles.
DPF is due for replacement according to the idrive but the car is driving perfect. We know he can drive it till it goes but he would rarther sort it before hand.

    2 options :

Joe power can remoe and remap the car. (€550)
    Or
Another BMW specialist can clean out the DPF to new condition with warranty. (€150)

He plans to remap the car anyway afterwards but unsure as to whether he should keep the DPF in place or not?

    Any opinions in this?

There was a similar thread here the other day where the op had a Focus. Some crowd quoted him 450 euro iirc to remove DPF and remap.

I'd go with getting it cleaned, €150 is very reasonable imo. Really depends how long he is holding onto the car I guess.

A DPF is not required for the NCT at the moment but that might change in a few years as I read that in the UK they are looking at introducing tighter emmissions tests in the MOT to account for cars fitted with DPFs. I'd say it will only be a matter of time before they copy them over here.
