    Got my results and found out I failed a total of 7 exams in the overall year (5 at christmas , 2 in summer ) with no chance of compensating either , I was sick for most of the year and was in and out of college so I know that is the reason for my constant struggling, unfortunatly there is no help or special conditions I can get for being sick so I just have to suck it up and repeat the 7. but is this possible to pass 7 ??? I never had repeats before so do you think its possible to pass the 7 in august as I cant afford to repeat the year if I fail them again

    Thanks Guys really would appriciate some advice

    What are you studying? What year are you in? Maybe you can get someone else to help with the study?

    It's not uncommon to have 7 exams in January and August either. In 1st and 2nd year I had 16 exams a year. 7 will be grand, just treat as you would as if they're normal exams. For what it's worth, if you had informed the exams office before and provided them with the appropriate certification that you weren't well you probably wouldn't have to pay to sit the repeats. It's worth a visit to the academic advisory people too, they'll be able to help you out should worse come to worst and you fail a repeat.

    I was sick at Christmas and missed one exam, got a sick note from the doctor and went to the examinations office to be told it didn't matter, I still have to pay the €60.

    Perfectly doable, just get stuck in and work your way through each subject. Theres always some topics that comes up every year, focus and nail those first.

    yes you can do it. It will be a tough few weeks but its doable. Just focus on getting through it, wiping the slate clean and getting into next year for a fresh start. Get focused and start practicing exam questions now

    It's really do-able! I would recommend you ask for help now, get some grinds maybe in the tougher modules and talk to your lecturers if you are struggling.
    Go over to Rose in the Academic Advisory, she is brilliant in situations like this! She might be able to give you more advice than we can here, she knows the ins and outs of every system here!

    Wishing you the best of luck though!

    Hi there

    Yep you still have to repeat to move on.
    Be aware of this though;

    Most departments only allow students to repeat for 40% and no greater but phone the Head of your subjects and remind them you were sick, did you tell them? Give them a copy of your cert and bring the original to show them and ask if you can repeat for the full range of marks? They should say okay unless you had a head cold and they decided you were on the doss! If the Exams Office still have your cert ask them did they give a copy to your Dept's?

    what year are you repeating and what subjects? PM me if you like, if you don't mind me asking what was your illness, you don't have to tell me but the Dept's are going to need to know.

    As for the 7 exams, yeah of course you can do it, all you need is to get 40% and watch out for passing by compensation rule, the module might be required in which case you need 40 to pass and the PCompensation rule doesn't apply. Read the link below, it explains everything. If you do get to use the PCompensation rule you'll need 391 out of 1000 to proceed. Remember Dept's want you to pass so study.
