    If you guys could advise, id be much obliged. Was planning a 26 km long run this weekend, but im just feeling really run down and tired. Should I;

    1) Forget about today, recover, and go on the 26 km tomorrow;
    2) Split the run into 2 runs, 13 today and 13 tomorrow?
    3) another suggestion.

    Thanks guys

    Rest today - eat and hydrate well, see how you feel tomorrow and go tomorrow if you can. If you're not feeling 100% tomorrow - go out and see how you feel as you go. Pick a route that you can bail out of if you need to go home early.

    Maybe do a short, easy run at some point today.

    Get out and get her done!

    Or head out for 8-10k anyway and if you're not feeling any better, reassess.

    HTFU, MTFU, SIU and so on

    Start the session, do 25% and then make a call!

    I'd go along with this. Go out and start it. If it's not happening, call it a day. You might feel fine tomorrow.

    They are just stupid initials spouted by people to make them appear hard when they arent realy. If your very tired or run down,rest. If your just feeling lazy or under motivated put the shoes on and run a mile and see what happens. Man the **** up is rubbish advice.

    HTFU (Harden the f*** up, Man the f*** up and suck it up.)

    It can be sound advice if you're just feeling lazy. I don't think anyone says it to make themselves look hard.

    If your really tired and run down rest today easy jog tomorrow and start afresh Monday no point f**king yourself up for the sake of one session.

    Those ones when you feel crap, when you just put one leg in front of the other, where you have to stop, where you think you just wanna quit and walk home, or phone the other half to collect you, but you grit your teeth and run on for another bit, and another bit, and you know it's really ugly and the pace is snail like...sometimes I think they are the good ones. I kinda think they are the character forming ones. We all want the ones where we get into a zone and bound along effortlessly, but think there is as much to be learned from the crap days. Sometimes I think there is much to be said for just getting out there.

    A coach or a good runner might say I'm talking nonsense mind...

    90% off the time it's not illness or injury or over training just laziness. So MTFU is entirely appropriate. For most people their biggest limiter is themselves and taking the easy/lazy way out.

    MTFU, HTFU and SIU Princess are all motivational phrases many people use to get out the door as once out the door usually all is fine.

    If youre middle-aged and work mon-fri, this is what saturday usually feels like :)

    If you are ill, dont go out. If you think you are overtraining - have a look at this and rest up if you are. Otherwise its just missed training.

    Loads of times ive had to drag myself out the door yawning because I have a 2 hour window of opportunity to run long, and within 2 miles ive been ok.....you can always take it easy, and if you are really struggling relative to how you usually feel on a run then pull the plug and try again another day. Good luck!
