I initially wasn't going to have a stag party but have slowly come round to the idea.

    So i need ideas.

What i'm thinking is an activities focused day to start. Archery, climbing that kind of thing. I would like somewhere within about an hour to two hour drive at most from Dublin. Ideally somewhere that can accomadate up to 10 guy's over night with bar/food.

I've already tried Avon ri in Blessington which would have been great but is booked out.

So if anyone can suggest any other locations i would appreciate it.

Train to Sligo. There are surf schools down there for your daytime activity and it's a great place to go for a stag. I was there on one a few weeks ago, and also about 2 years ago and everybody loved it

Just about to suggest something along these lines. Strandhill, lahinch, bundoran. Take your pick. Bit of surfing, few beers. Heaven.

If going on the train to Sligo, try to get one that has a bar on it, so you can bring cans, and drink a few on the way up. Bring cards.

Go up in the evening, stay overnight, do stuff during the day, stay again overnight, and come back by train next day.

There are a couple of hostels in Sligo, and if there are ten of ye, and you want costs down to a minimum, look into getting a large dorm to yourselves at a hostel; most hostels do a deal if there's ten or more of ye. Go at the weekends, though, as even though it may be cheaper midweek, I'd say it'd be better craic at the weekend.

Charter a fishing boat in Sligo

The skipper will have the gear and show you what you need to know
And you bring drink on board of course

I went to Carrick-on-shannon a few years ago and rented out a boat with some friends on the Shannon for a week and we went to loads of different pubs along the river, great fun!
Hmmmm, kinda sounds like a gay cruise now... ANYWAY, you could go white water rafting maybe if renting a cruiser isn't your thing and the night life there is pretty good too.

I advise against the cruiser as water and being pissed don't mix well.

Recently went paintballing in bray and I havn't had that much fun in a long time. Its pricey but worth it as an occasional thing. We did 6 games with 2 10min rounds in each game and were exhausted afterwards. Reckon it'd make for a great stag, check it out though its great fun.

Have a look at Out Doors & Dirty in Cavan (sounds rude, it's not). Hover-crafting was great craic, didn't do the other activities.

We stayed in Belturbet for the weekend, rented houses in RiverRun holiday homes but I'm sure there is other accommodation if you don't want to go down the self catering route.

I'm a girl so it obviously wasn't for a stag but there were stags there.

There's a spot called Gravity near Courtown in Wexford, it does high ropes, climbing walls etc. My OH has been there and recommends it, and it's only 45 min from Wexford town or Carlow, depends what you're into.
I'm looking at ideas for my own next year and want something different from the 'head to Kilkenny and get pi$$ed' thing too.

Glad to see the celtic tiger nonsense of going abroad has gone. Stags i have been on and enjoyed:
    - surfing lessons in tramore and out in Waterford City, easy to get there on train down or down the motorway (100mins).
    - Kilkenny is always popular
    - Killarney is good, a bit further though so probably over your 2 hr limit.
    - Clonakilty

So we are off to Lahinch for the weekend. 40 Euro for half a day surfing break for lunch then 3 hours of Airsoft, followed by an evening of eating steaks and drinking as much Guinness as i can hold (not included in the price)

Can't wait for it now after my initial reservations.

Thanks for all the replies Gentlemen.
