Build in a Yema case

I have an older watch, a Yema Superman.

My auld lad gave me this watch after a lifetime of giving it holly on building sites.

Is there any way I could buy a movement/face/hands and drop them into the case, or have someone do it for me?

I would like to retain the case and dive watch properties but I think the actual watch is on it's last legs.

I do like the case and face, but that's about all is still working on this one.

I'd like to get her moving again, even if it uses a non-original movement and bits.

Thanks for looking lads, any ideas gratefully received!

They were a popular well made watch and unless you've a real oddball one I reckon a few weeks keeping an eye on ebay would get you a donor movement easily enough. No doubt the movement is in different models even makes. Swapping bits around is actually easy enough with the right tools and a bit of practice. The problem would come with servicing the movement and maintaining the waterproof part.

If it was me? I'd try and keep it as original as possible. Get someone to service the existing movement. Like you say your dad hockeyed the bollex out of it(technical term) for years in a pretty tough environment and it kept going for most of that time. I reckon you can get it going again and it'll give years more service. You could put a quartz movement in it, but the original hands probably won't fit and IMHO you've taken the heart out of it. Like sticking a micra engine in a vintage masarati. That's the sentimentalist in me mind you :o:)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
