Am thinking of buying one of these, can anybody offer any advice, opinions or any specifically to be looking out for? Cheers.

I test drove one a couple of weeks ago that a relation was thinking of buying, first thing noticed was a serious wheel bearing whine from the rear wheels, (80k miles) also I thought for a 1.8 it was sluggish, never had 1 myself just my first impressions.

    Had a '02 zetec model,
    Comfortable enough.
    Thirsty on short runs.
One trip to Dublin and back took more than a tank of petrol.

    Probably reliable car though.

I have an 03 1.8 125.As said heavy on the juice on short runs but on most motorway runs (Limerick Dublin) I get about 35 mpg.

While the 125hp engine is more than enough to pull the car around its not going to be the fastest thing around and you will certainly notice a performance drop when you have four adults in the car. There is plenty of power to overtake but you will find yourself changing down a gear or so to get into the power band. Around town and particularly when warming up this is not an efficient engine but on longer drives it is relatively easy to achieve 35 mile per gallon.

I find the seats very comfortable but a bit lacking in lower lumbar support, which is particularly noticeable on longer drives. Cabin noise is not much of an issue until you exceed about 100kph, after which it is not so loud as to overpower a conversation but is noticeable.

The 125 should be a slightly higher than base spec model and should come with a few extras like alloy wheels, all electric windows, steering wheel controls for the radio.
