    [Mod snipped]

Was wondering how long it'd take someone like you to come in

Everytime a beer BA is posted the high horse brigade (or at least one of them) come in with "oh X is faaar better than this". Don't like it, don't drink it!

Only took until the third post for the drink snobs to arrive, this is bargain alerts not the food and drink forum so keep your opinions to yourself. Can we please start infracting people who do this sort of thing?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭Mr. Rager

Don't see the need to undermine those who chose to drink it, it's regarded as one of the better tasting cheap beers.

Totally disagree. Dutch Gold is a decent beer. Tuborg for me is watery piss.

How much did you pay for the watery piss?

Bought a couple of cans a few years ago. Never again.

My local pub got Tuborg in so I ordered a pint of it to try. I found it pretty nice, thought it was quite similiar to Carlsberg.
It's Danish aswell and been owned by Carlsberg since 1970 or so says Google.

I was in Denmark and tuborg is by far the bigger drink compared to its sister carlsberg. Seen as cheap here, not really sure why.
The draft is fantastic and the bottles are lovely too. I do find the cans can taste a bit "metallic" though. Have it plenty cold and it's at it's best.
    Great bargain alert OP.

    Tuborg is grand.

Like the above poster, in Denmark oddly its the favourite and it's Carlsberg is considered the cheap beer.

Your horse is taller than mine. I was giving my opinion. Tuborg is fine, on draught, but in cans it tastes like watered down dutch gold with pieces of metal in it. A slab of dutch gold can be got for the same price, and in a can, dutch gold wins on taste.

I don't like someone like you  how many thanks did you want to get for that reply?

Stay on the topic of the BA though. I don't think the cans of it taste nice. What is your opinion on them?

I'm no booze snob just love a bargain. Now where do you get the watery piss cos I fancy trying it but only if it's a bargain!! ;)

This forum isn't for opinions, it's for posting low prices, that's it.

    Factual feedback such as:

"excellent piece of kit - build quality very good"
"the product failed after the first week"
    "delivery time was x weeks"
"it did not include x as per product description"

Then again, I'm sure you knew that, when you were posting:rolleyes:

The Tuborg you get in Ireland is far inferior product to elsewhere. The ABV is 4% which for me makes the Tuborg taste watery compared to the Tuborg you buy in NI even which is 4.6% ABV and has a much smoother flavour.

    Tuborg in Ireland not good
Tuborg almost everywhere else is a good beer.

If it was called Tuborg Lite then I would not be comparing it to other Tuborgs, but the fact is its a poor relation to its twin brothers.

Here is an article to read.

    Beer brouhaha
    CONOR POPE

Richard Fennell is fond of the occasional can of Tuborg lager, which comes from Denmark. Or at least it used to. He bought a couple of cans in his local Tesco recently and was having a drink with his Danish girlfriend when they noticed something wasn’t quite right with their beer. The girlfriend – using a word that Pricewatch is going to adopt immediately – complained that the beer had been “bewatered” or diluted. “When disposing of my can in the recycle bin I noticed the alcohol content had been reduced, but the price had not,” writes Fennell. “On further investigation I saw that it was brewed in Ireland,” he continues.

He rummaged in his recycle bin and found an old Tuborg can which had a higher alcohol content and had been brewed and canned in the Carlsberg brewery in Denmark. The weaker Irish can and the stronger Danish version are identical in colour and shape, as is the cardboard packaging. Annoyed, Fennell contacted Tesco to complain as he was paying the same amount for an “inferior imitation beer”.

“Needless to say,” he writes, “my first letter has not been replied to and neither has my second one.” He wants to know how could beer brewed and canned in Denmark with an alcohol content of 4.2 per cent be the same price as an inferior imitation brewed in Ireland with an alcohol content of 4 per cent? He also asks how many big businesses are involved in deceiving the consumer with “lookalike” products? While answering the second question might be difficult, we did try to find out when the “bewatered” Tuborg started selling in Ireland and why the alcohol by volume (ABV) had fallen slightly. We called five randomly selected off-licences, all of whom expressed surprise that the alcohol content of the beer had been reduced. They all confirmed that the price of the beer had not fallen in their shops.

Tuborg, like its sister beer Carlsberg, is now brewed in St James’s Gate by Diageo, so we contacted that company to find out when it had started brewing Tuborg and why its alcohol content had fallen but its price had not. The company said that it had no control over the prices individual retailers charged for the product but pointed out that variations in the ABV of the same beers across the world was not uncommon.

How very pedantic of you. The build quality of the cans of Tuborg I purchased were of very high standard, as all of the beer was held inside without leakage.
My only complaint was that the taste of the beer was not up to a standard I was happy with. For a similar price I could have purchased a different cheap beer which I would have enjoyed more. This is a good deal for the price of Tuborg, but there are in my opinion cheaper and better alternatives available.

    Pedantic ? Nope.

My point is simply this. Taste is subjective. And your comparison with "watered down Dutch gold with pieces of metal in it" is a bit silly really.

It wasn't a comparison it was a description. Of course it's subjective. I'm not the only one on this thread who has said it doesn't taste good. Taste is subjective. My opinion is going to be subjective because it's my opinion.

Your attitude is a bit silly really. People can disagree with you. You're disagreeing with me and that's fine. I've given my opinion that it does not taste nice. Now you can say that you think it does taste nice.
