The best card out there?

I am 18 on Sunday and I'm looking to get a card to make transactions online, take money from ATMs etc. Up until now I've been using an o2 money card in my mother's name (wouldn't recommend this, too many hidden charges). But I want to know who's the best bank/company to go with? I'm looking for the most cost effective card but it's important that i can use it anywhere (for some reason my o2 card won't work with Paypal). I heard Ulster Bank do a good service? I've also asked in permanent tsb. The woman offered me a "MyCash Account" (for 12 to 18 year-olds. Because I'm still in school) and apparently they give you a Visa Debit card with exemptions from certain charges that an adult account is charged, but I wonder if it's possible to use it anywhere?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

the bank doesn't make much difference to you now as you would get a student account and the bank pay most fees eg that 10 stamp duty.

But dont get a laser card- cant buy online (expect irish sites) get visa debt
