Press Release / Email from RSA

    Dear ADI,

I am writing to you to inform you of the closure of the driving test centre in Braemor Road, Churchtown.

The centre is closing on Friday 31 August. The centre is leased by the Office of Public Works on behalf of the RSA and we were advised that the OPW had been given a notice to quit following expiry of the lease. The centre does not fulfil the requirements of a modern test centre, and while an alternative premises in Clonskeagh was considered, this has fallen through. To manage demand for driving tests in the south Dublin region we have decided to relocate the staff working out of Churchtown to Orwell Road, Rathgar and Broomhill Road, Tallaght. These test centres are 1.5km and 9.5km distant from the Churchtown Centre and for that reason I do not anticipate the closure will cause significant inconvenience to learner drivers in the area.

All those test applicants currently scheduled in Churchtown as well as those we schedule there in the coming weeks will have their tests conducted in Churchtown. We will provide the full range of tests provided in Churchtown in Rathgar with all categories also being provided in Tallaght. We will be closing off the option of Churchtown as a preferred test location on our online application portal atwww.rsa.ie in the next week or so.

    Yours sincerely,

    Noel Brett
