Insulation of dowlights

    Hi, are in Ireland any regulation about insulation the downlights?

    Various electrical (IIEE) and fire regulations require any cables or light fittings that are likely to heat up not be covered in insulation. In the past people just removed the attic insulation around halogen downlighters, creating a convection current that would cool the lamp and the room below.
    Best practice now is to use cool running LED's, cover with a commercially made upside down "flowerpot", then cover the whole lot over with insulation.
