Keeping this separate from the Journey Planner topic

I must say at first glance they have done a really good job with this, from what I can see we have all of the following which is a huge step forward
    • Dublin Bus, Irish Rail, LUAS and Bus Eireann Fares all in one place
    • Taxsaver Information
    • Taxi Fare Estimator
    • Taxi License Checker
    • Cycling Section
    • Walking Section
    • News from Operators
If they continue to build on this in the future, we could have a really great one stop site.

Looks like any mention of an API for the realtime and journey planner has gone from the FAQs. :(

If the economy keeps going as it is, the walking and cycling sections will be all that is needed... maybe a PSO pony and trap scheme?

I am looking at the new site and it does look like a great improvement.

Just at the Bus Eireann fares atm, I asking does it cost €33.10 for a weekly/monthly fare for Dublin to Ashbourne?

    http://www.transportforireland.ie/fares/bus-eireann/

I am looking at a sample Taxi fare on the Taxi Estimator from Dun Laoghaire to Fonthill Road. And low and behold, if your fare is not planned before you go on the journey, for one person only you will be paying from €52.40 to €65.00.

My god, it would be too expensive for me if I was going there in the morning time for work.

    Their website planning is nuts.

Why does Leap have it's own site, when Oyster is integrated into Transport for London's site: https://oyster.tfl.gov.uk/oyster/entry.do

Same goes for the nationaltransport.ie and transportforireland.ie split?

We got integrated ticketing (sort of)... how many years will it take before we get integrated information?

State-run transport related websites and transport sections for Dublin:

And the thing is, these are only the ones I can think of off hand at 2am.

I like the cycling section. It was obviously written by someone who actually cycles!!

The first item in the top ten safety tips is about not cycling on the left hand side of trucks, etc. (by far the biggest killer of cyclists) and non of the top ten safety hints says where a helmet :)

Under the cycling gear section, it grudgingly says that the RSA recommends wearing a helmet, but goes on to say it isn't legally required :D

Nice site, a good job, but I agree we should see far greater integration of these transport sites into one.

Leap, rtpi data and the journey planner should all be on this site. It should be a one stop shop for all a persons public transport needs.

Aren't they a private operator, being run by Veolia Transdev and all?

It's a state-provided service which Veoila merely have the contract to run on our behalf.

State-controlled then. In any case. Luas.ie is a joint venture between the RPA and VT.

Just having a quick look out of curiosty, and, seen no network maps on it. Thought this might have been a preety standard thing to includ.

I think that once the Dublin Bus Network Direct rollout is completed then a new network map should follow. Unfortunately the DB network has been changing virtually every month for the past 18 months or so, so a map would be of little value. Thankfully there are only a few phases left to happen so hopefully attention can switch to maps etc.

Fair enough with the bus network, but what about an intergrated or seperate LUAS/DART/RAIL network map? Less likely to changes as well as runs on fixed rails.

    :D

Granted these would be on their own websites as well, but if a intergrated website has been designed, why not have maps as well.

I think it's a case of doing things by degrees - the site is a start and slowly but surely the information needs to be built upon - Maps ought to be a key part of that mix.
