A friend asked me this earlier, say if he saw a car on donedeal, could he pay for it and bring it home on the same day, or does some paperwork need to be sent off?

As long as he is insured to drive the car and it has tax/nct its fine.

You send off the paper work to have the car put into your name.

The vendor should send off the change of ownership, not you.
