Bit of a tricky situation

I've being chatting to a guy on a dating website from my area. He has no picture up nor have I (both not out) but some of the information he gave in his profile sounded like a guy I know who lives five miles from me within my parish who I have always suspected of being gay.

Anyway I have being mailing him and I am 99.9 % sure it is him by what he has told me, name, age, job, looks etc. Now he knows my parents, my family and I do meet him in the local pub and shops (small rural village) Also while not relevant but my nieces and nephews are cousins of his nieces and nephews if you get me.

I told him where I live and that it is highly likey we know each other, he is ok with this and doesn't think it matters and tells me we have nothing to loose by it. I do like this guy, he is attractive and I always felt he was attracted to me despite both not knowing that we were gay, I just got that feeling, the way he looked at me and how he always got nervous and shy around me while he would be all chat and laughs with other people.

Should I go ahead and meet him?

If you're so keen on meeting him and are nearly certain of what he looks like, why not just swap face pics?
It's more or less the unofficial rule with these sites - no pic, no chat. But you could just send him a private one that no one can see but him and vice versa.
once you put a face to a blank profile you'll feel much easier about meeting him.

It doesn't have to be a blind date you know! And with these dating sites, I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into just to be completely confident with a meet up.

You are both not out so at the end of the day he is hardly likely to run off and start telling people about your sexuality because it will then reveal his (how does he know? Get my drift)

Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that :-)

21st century - everyone has a camera of some sort, on their phone or otherwise. Ask for a photo to make sure or else call it off. You can't be too paranoid about meeting people from the internet, it doesn't matter it you think you know them already.

Well he figured out it was me - he stopped replying one day and I messaged him wondering if he would like to meet, I got a 'don't know, maybe' answer, he later claimed 'it might be weird' then he later suggested would I be into 'nsa' so I haven't replied to that. He told me before he knew my identity that he would love a bf and so what if he 'knew me'. Perhaps he wasn't into me, I did ask him but he wouldn't answer the question. Anyway despite him rejecting me I'm not pushed, I'm a good looking fit lad, infact a lot more than he is. Also an old flame has got back in touch so it's looking good. Thank's everyone!
