Alternative Film Forum

    Is it possible to create an Alternative & Indie Film forum, as per the music equivalent?

    I am so tired of reading about the Dark Knight here or some god-awful Robocop remake.

    In the music forums I can quite happily ignore Gaga and Rihanna and skip to the Alternative & Indie forum for some decent music....please do the same here!

    I feel your pain OP and would like to second your motion for an Indie film forum.

    You have to trudge through threads and threads of Batman and Jason Stathem movies to find someone reviewing something that might be worth watching.

    Hmm so your first post in this forum is to demand a new sub-forum?

    Here's an alternate approach: post in the threads that do exist about independent and world cinema. Having a quick glance at the first few pages of the forum, there are ongoing topics about cinematography, Himizu, Cosmopolis, The Master, anime, Japanese cinema, The Raid, Before Sunset, Jane Eyre, Wendy & Lucy... Plenty of variety outside the old Batman and blockbuster threads. Not to mention the plethora of offbeat recommendations in the Netflix or 'what have you watched recently' threads.

    People are quick to call for division, but why don't you try posting about the films you want to talk about? Or responding to the posters that make an effort to start threads that promote alternative voices? There's a good few posters on here hugely versed in all aspects of cinema - from silent movies through to contemporary, I don't know, Iranian cinema. They're willing to engage in discussions about it, so why don't you try and provoke them to do so?

    Oh, I see the thread has inevitably turned to ****. Locked.
