The place where i work is having a stocktake next week on tuesday. My rostering for next week is

    Monday - off
    Tuesday - in
    Wednesday - Off
    Thursday- in
    Friday - in
    Sat - in
    Sun - in

Now the stock-take is on in the evening time, the majority of us have been rostered to finish at say 11 that night, but we have been told there is a possibility that we may need to stay on till 2 am Wednesday morning. Now seeing as Wednesday is one of my two days off that week am i able to stay on? or is it a case where i cant because it would be counted as working 6 days in a week?

Any and all help would be appreciated :D

Will you be getting overtime for the extra hours?

I'd say you stay still until finish
That's how it's done in lots of places like hotels.
The finish time is not known so you stay until it's done.

    But push for overtime

yes you can work 6 days, particularly since it is not a usual thing. The working week should not exceed 48 hours, but this 48 hours is arrived at by taking an average over a period of 4 months (or in some industries 6 mths). So as this is an ad-hoc thing, in your case as long as you are getting your overtime, stay til its done, and be glad you are off the next day so you can have a good lie in! :p
