    Hi,

I bought a Finlux Saorview box in Harvey Norman today and when I got home to use it realised there is no TV socket in the bedroom!! Doh! :(

Just wondering is their anyway I can work around this to get it working or should I just return it. Until now I've been using the rabbit ears to get the basic 4 Irish channels but never needed TV for much more then them. As its a rented place I don't want to go into the hassle of drilling holes etc. Any help appreciated!

Have you tried connecting the rabbits ears to the box and doing a channel search?

    Rough rule of thumb:-
If you had a half-decent picture on TG4 using the "rabbits ears", they should also work with a SaorView box.

Actually........will that just be a temp fix as the rabbit ears won't be picking up a signal come Oct right?? Will still give it a go!

If you can get the Saorview signal today via rabbits ears you will still get it in October.

If the rabbit's ears were able to get TG4 and TV3 then you should have no problem with a Saorview box connected to the same antenna, before and after October.

See Section 8.2 of the Saorview FAQ - http://www.rtenl.ie/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/RTÉNL-SAORVIEW-FAQs-May-2012-Rev-7.1.pdf

Thanks. Had a look. Anyway, its up and running and all channels are perfect except for I have none of the BBC's etc. I've all the Irish channels which is decent enough! Do you normally get the british channels with a proper connection! Thanks ALL by the way! I was going to bring it back!!

Only if you're within coverage of a NI or Welsh transmitter carrying the UK channels otherwise a satellite receiver and dish required.

Just to avoid confusion, Saorview is up and running and has been for over a year. It is only analogue that switches off on the 24th October. Get Saorview now if you have not get it. You will not reget it.
