I'm looking to purchase my first smartphone and am a bit perplexed as to what to get. I've liked the look of the xperia neo, arc s and xperia ray.
I will be starting a job in august for 3.5 years so i can afford to get a bill pay phone if i want. However I don't want any plan to be over €25 a month and my budget is around €200 for the phone. A phone that supports google maps is a must.

Any advice on what to get???

Decent phone, just got ICS. Would couple it with Three all you can eat data for 20E top up a month.

Going billpay could get you a good phone, but at 25/mo I dont know if they'll really give you anything decent. Buying a 2011 phone will likely mean you'll be craving a update by the end of next year at the latest.

would this phone be superior to the xperia ray and xperia arc s?

Think the Arc S is the top of the three, but slightly more expensive. The whole 2011 line up is pretty much the same hardware though.

Was looking at the Arc S in O2 today, really nice phone. on bill pay, its costs €30 up front and €40 a month for 18 months thereafter. I have had my current phone for nearly 3 years and it is just a standard budget smartphone so I'd probably hold on to any new phone for a similar time.

Would i be better buying the phone on pay as you go for around €300 or go into bill pay?

Like, thats your call, but I would say that three's 20E top up per month with free texts and all you can eat data is pretty whopper, data is abig thing with smartphones.
