Have left it late in booking accomodation in Hvar, where I'll be staying for ten days from July 8-18.
Anyone know of a suitable place in central Hvar town?

Was there 2 years ago. Its a great spot. We got an appartment, booked it the day we arrived. We had looked up a couple and rang frolm Spit. When we got off the ferry in Hvar there was loads of people with appartments to rent if you wanted to take the chance.

    We used this site

    Edit:
We stayed here. I think it was about 50 eur a night

Its about 15 mins walk to main square, but has a huge hill which can be hard in the heat or coming home with some beverages in you!! Other than that it was perfect and we we were picked up and dropped back to the ferry. If you use google maps, you will find somewhere closer to the main square

ten days is way way too much in hvar. Lovely island but there is little to do there after three days. Croatia is a fantastic country, try see more of it rather than stay in Hvar if at all possible. If you are anything like me you will get mad with jealousy when you see some of the personal yaughts docked up in hvar:(

    Agree with this.
Unless you've plans for those 10 days?
Split and Brac are nearby and are well worth a visit.

I went before in August and didn't book anything, just winged it when we got off boats and everything worked out perfectly (although this was in 2006 when it was maybe not as well known)
