A friend of mine wants to take a pup of a relative of his to the UK with him when he returns next week.

What options are there regards pet transportation? Will a pet courier be required to bring the pup from Ireland to London, UK?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

according to petttravel.com If he was going by ferry, Pets are allowed to join their owners travelling with a car. The pet has to be taken on board the ship in the car and must stay in the car or in the kennels provided by Irish Ferries for the duration of the voyage. The pet is not allowed on the passenger decks at any time. The kennels are on the car deck, they can be booked in advance and are free of charge. If the pet is staying in the car for the duration of the journey there is no need to declare him/her before travel. . . If he wanted to bring the pup without a car he will need to get a crate which is deemed suitable by Irish Ferries. He'll need a certificate stating that the pup is in good health and fit for travel and has been vaccinated.

I'm not sure if the pup will need a pet passport though.

No pet passport needed for travel to UK, is nicer for the dog if they are in a car they know on the ferry but plenty of people use the onboard kennels.

Sorry, should've clarified. He flew in to Ireland and will be flying back to London next week. Do any airlines allow pets to be carried, even in the cargo section, is this a possibility or are pet couriers the only alternative? A ferry unfortunately is not an option.

Quick google indicates Ryanair do not accept pets at all and Aer Lingus don't on flights to UK
