I accepted a garda caution in court today, for a section 2 assault.

Do i have to go infront of the local superintendant and sign a form now accepting the caution, or will it automatically go on my record, wheither i sign anything or not..

Also is it too late now for me to refuse to take it,eventhough i accepted it in court:confused:

Also can the gardai if they so choose decide not to proceed with the caution...Thanks in advance folks!

You will have to be formally cautioned in the Garda station. You can of course ignore it and defy the judges order. it would not go well for you though and would likely result in prison time. The Gardaí would have objected in court if they did not wish for it to be cautioned.

Yes ! You agreed to it so now you must follow through. Court was your opportunity to speak up if you were not prepared to accept a caution , you can't change your mind now.
