Im just starting farming and my neighbour has a farm of about 60 acres. Mostly good land. Badly fenced. No entitlements. Good family friend but another man has it at the moment. 2 questions 1. How best to approach him and 2. Whats it worth. Thanks.

A good family friend often can be a receipe for disaster, and another guy has it at the moment aswell. If it is as good as you make it out to be it will be costing around 10k give or take a few bob.

Kinda funny setup. The current fella is in there with a few horses. Has the place for nothing on condition he maintains it. Which he is not. My father had it a few years ago on the same terms and it was kept well grazed, sprayed and fertilized. Would love to get it back on more official terms. Its right beside me.

He is getting 60 acres for nothing ? Get in there fast and give the owner some few pound for it , before someone else does . I dont believe someone is giving away that much ground just to keep it ate and fenced

I didnt think "city slickers " were ever slow with regards the value of land or livestock .
My mothers family are city slickers and on the rare occasions I see them I am always asked how many cows have ye now , or how many acres have ye now ,or how much road frontage have ye ?

They know the value of it alright. This lad just has no interest in minding it. Horses in it all year. Could do with a serious spraying.
